Online Resources and Search Tools:
International Music Score Library Project: This group has created a searchable digital music library, free of charge, that hopes to include all public domain sheet music. It even includes audio files for some of the works, although all visitors should follow the copyright regulations of their respective countries. The IMSLP also hosts a journal and a forum.
Cecilia: This website functions as a guide to music archives, collec-tions, and libraries throughout the UK and Ireland.
Musipedia: This online search tool enables scholars to search music in their database, based on a musical phrase or even a rhythmic pattern. You can whistle a melody or play it on a USB keyboard, or tap the rhythm on a key of your keyboard, and it will find all records in its database that match your query.
Digital Projects:
Online Chopin Variorum Edition: This project provides high-resolution images of every page of every edition of Chopin’s works, and it even supports measure by measure comparisons of editions. It seems to be the ideal, cutting edge of scholarly DH projects in music.
Historical Voices: This project provides detailed information about and links to a series of digital projects involving the recorded spoken word, including one archive that contains recordings of important Victorians made in the first fifty years of recording technology.
Freeing the Goldberg Variations: This project is a scholarly endeavor to create an open source, public domain recording and score of the Goldberg Variations.
Lester S. Levy Collection of Sheet Music: This collection of American popular sheet music contains 29,000 searchable works from 1780-1980, and focuses on minstrel music as well as music inspired by military conflicts.
